Battle of the Bulge

There are many places in Belgium I had not before been aware of. In such a small country it is quite easy to overlook the important happenings that took place inside its borders.

One such incident is the Battle of the Bulge. This important battle of World War II was fought against Germany and the allied forces consisting primarily of Americans in the region if Belgium known as the Ardens. An important battle took place there, the Battle of Bastogne where the city was surrounded but refused to surrender. This is the battle where the response “Nuts!”was given to the Germans when they asked for surrender.
