Many of
the shops we visited were brands I had never heard of before. As I was shopping I could
not help but notice the many shirts that boasted English words. I had noticed this interest in English, the U.S. and the U.K. before, seeing people wearing the clothing
I now saw on the racks of the stores. But I also had noticed it in the music.
When I first arrived in Belgium I was surprised by how many English songs were on
the radio; many popular tunes I heard in the U.S. also played on the Belgium
stations. I commented about this to Marjorie, and she told me that the younger
generation had quite an interest in English. The French speaking youth preferred to
learn English than Dutch, the other official language of Belgium.
So no Remicourt yet. Next post, I promise!
