Remicourt

The little villages of Belgium are very quaint! With their brick homes, narrow roads, and charm of country life the villages truly encompass for me an old time style. Thankfully with more modern luxuries added in!

I've had the pleasure of discovering more about one of these villages, Remicourt. The village is surrounded by farmlands, and cows, horses and donkeys are kept living beside some of the out skirting buildings of the village. The village boasts it's own bank, post office, 'maison communal', a youth center, a park, and various stores from furniture to bakery.

Did I mention the Catholic Church owns an emu?

I had the pleasure of going on a bike ride with my host father, Daniel, further around the village and some surrounding ones, and into the country. I truly wish I could have taken pictures during that ride, there are some amazing sights, and the golden fields looked amazing against the rain darkened sky. Hopefully I'll be able to get around to just take pictures of all the beauty that is around me!

An interesting side note; quite a few of the old farmhouses are being transformed into apartments instead of being demolished. I think this is such a wonderful idea! The grand old buildings have such history, it would be a shame to get rid of the beautiful things.

  1. Thank you for sharing some great pictures of Remicourt and about your adventures so far. I am so jealous of biking in the countryside of Belgium. I am looking forward to pictures from Brussels.
