It's strange to believe that 2013 is already over, it was such a year packed full of new adventures for me. I left my home, my family, my friends, to partake in a new adventure in a different country, using a foreign language daily and building up relationships with strangers. It was a year of difficulties, struggles, and tears but also of laughter, discovery and a multitude of adventures!
I spent the New Years Eve moment in Brussels with Kaela, outside the Central Station watching as fireworks went off. Crowds of people cheered around us as we welcomed in the New Year in our own way.
2014 will be just as full of adventures as 2013 was. It started off with me changing my host family. I left the Schyn's house on Saturday to go to the Servais. It was a bittersweet change, I was excited to experience the different home life, but sad to leave the family I had grown used to and was just now beginning to connect better too. With changing family's comes a whole host of little things to relearn about my Belgium life. For one, I will no longer take the train to school, but the bus. Since the Servais had first been Kaela's host parents, I had already had quite a few interactions with them and had slept over multiple times. They are very nice and I am excited to stay with them.
Especially Choupette, the extremely loveable cat!
2014, a year to explore Europe, learn French and build relationships. I have entered this New Year with a renewed desire to dig deeper into all the possibilities of my exchange year! And of course, I will relate whateve adventure I manage to get myself tangled up in!
And for all those back home, happy New Year!
